rclone

Personal Google Drive integration operated by Bourke Technology.

The application named rclone on the Google consent screen is a personal OAuth client configured by Bourke Technology for use with the open-source rclone software. It connects the site owner's Google Drive account to rclone running on a server hosted in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).

What the application does

Rclone is a command-line tool for managing files between local storage and cloud services. This integration is used to:

  • List Drive files and folders and inspect their names, sizes and modification times.
  • Upload and download files for backups and restores.
  • Copy or synchronise folders between Google Drive and storage destinations chosen by the owner.
  • Create folders, rename or move files, and delete files when required by the owner's commands or scheduled jobs.

Why it requests Google Drive access

The integration requests https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive. This permits reading and managing files accessible to the authorised Google Drive account, including existing files, excluding the separate Application Data folder. File contents and metadata are needed to transfer data, compare folders and apply the requested changes.

Google handles sign-in and permission approval during rclone setup. Rclone then uses Google's authorisation tokens to perform the configured file operations. This integration does not request Gmail, Calendar, Contacts or Google Photos access.

Data handling and privacy

Rclone runs on the owner's OCI server and transfers files to the destinations they configure. Restic is used to create encrypted backup repositories. Rclone's configuration stores the Google authorisation tokens separately; restic backup encryption does not automatically protect those tokens. Logs and caches may also be stored on the server. The public website is an information page and does not relay those file transfers.

Google data is used for these file-management functions. It is not sold or used for advertising or general-purpose AI training. Read the Privacy Policy for rclone for the full details of access, use, sharing, storage, protection and deletion.

This page is publicly available without signing in. The OAuth client is for the site owner's personal use.
